The Global Center for Food Systems Innovation (GCFSI) is a USAID sponsored laboratory at Michigan State University focused on solving food security issues in Feed the Future Countries. GCFSI has an annual study abroad scholarship program. The program is open to both undergraduate and graduate students at an accredited university in the US and offers USD 500 per scholarship.
The scholarship is awarded to students already enrolled in study abroad programs at their respective universities. The application deadline for the 2014 study abroad scholarships is March 15. Funding decision will be announced by March 25. Download Flyer (PDF)*
Students should download the application and send it to Ayesha Razzaque (firstname.lastname@example.org). They should also email itinerary of their study abroad program and a letter of recommendation from the faculty lead. The recommendation letter should also verify student enrollment in the program.
During their experience, students will be required to accomplish the following:
- Write a series of blog postings (at least once a week) during their experience
- Document and reflect on their experience through digital storytelling (a 3-5 min video using a combination of text, photography, video, audio, graphic illustrations and/or social media to capture student’s personal and professional growth. (Applications should include proposed use of these and other digital tools to capture and share stories. We want you to be creative so use your imagination!)
- GCFSI will reserve the right to share these stories through multiple platforms and audiences.
- Tweet 3-4 times a week during your tour using tags suggested by the GCFSI once selections are made.
