Established in 2012 by USAID, the first five years of the center were dedicated to projects tackling issues through the leadership of Michigan State faculty and researchers. Focus areas were drawn from priorities established by MSU, USAID, the Global Development Lab, Feed the Future, CIMMYT, Shamba Shape Up, and other world leaders in food security.
